Heathen at the Mailbox Art Space, Flinders Lane, Melbourne
I recently curated three Melbourne artists, Belle Bassin, Valentina Palonen and Anna Parry, into an exhibition at the Mailbox Art Space in the CBD, Heathen. The mind map above captures, in a lateral way, some of the ideas the work was about. The space is unique and cosy - the images below are of some the installed work in the confines of the converted mailboxes.
Visible here: Valentina Palonen (left), Anna Parry (centre) and a curatorial intervention (right).

Feeled at Moonee Ponds Incinerator Gallery
Feeled is a large scale installation covering the atrium space in brightly coloured stickers emblazoned with words of encouragement. The title of the exhibition references colour field painting, but is also a playful allusion to the sticker and its emotive and motivational quality. The installation can be read formally, as a large scale abstraction: conceptually, as an exploration of contemporary cultures of affirmation, motivation and self-help; or playfully, as a colourful, fun and irreverent field of stickers that recalls primary school teacher feedback.
Opening Friday April 1
Exhibition runs 1 April -22 May
Incinerator Gallery, 180 Holmes Road, Moonee Ponds

Rainbow Eaters Exhibition - West Space, April 2012
I am curating an exhibition titled Rainbow Eaters at West Space's new gallery in the Melbourne CBD. It brings together the work of four contemporary artists, Kirra Jamison (above), Valentina Palonen, Nick Selenitsch and Paul Yore, who use lurid combinations of colour in their work to create talismans (of sorts) and bizarre shrines that reflect a wider interest in neo-shamanic, psychedelic and mystical discourses.
The exhibition will open on the 19th of April and runs until May 12.
More info about the exhibition and venue on the gallery's site here.

Open Up @ Kings ARI
Four days of performance art at Kings Artist Run Initiative
Opening Wednesday 19 October.
Performances daily until Saturday 22 October.
The ten artists performing throughout Open Up explore their own bodily experience and the relationship between the bodily and the spiritual. Each performance centres on an exploration of lived experience; through obsessive rituals and visceral actions, the artists explore how spirituality is lived through their own bodies. Featuring performances by Dominic Kavanagh, Luke Kempster, CJ Conway, Dylan Hammond , Richard Pilkington, Danae Valenza, Agnes So, Hi God People, Sean Crossley and Mitchel Brannan.
Curated by Malcolm Lloyd.
I will be performing in the gallery from 3-5pm, Saturday 22nd.
